Marriage Level 3: A quiet but still loved Anniversary

I can swear that it feels like only yesterday that I was dealing with problem after problem on a humid and rather rainy day. But 3 years on we have moved 3 times, bought a home, seen the death of some of our beloved pets; and welcomed in new ones. We've also welcomed in new friends and cut ties with previously loved ones, working hard to remove any negativity in our lives as it's important for us; as a couple and as individuals, to remove any unnecessary baggage. Having reached the 1st year mark in being homeowners we've been balancing our time between our love of the cinema, having to come to terms with having a garden and then trying to make personal improvements, the year really has flown by.

We've had many plans to go away for weekends, but turns out that stopping and starting health regimes, and driving lessons comes with a hefty price tag. so our love of travel has had to come with some restrictions, but the hope is in the next few weeks, we'll finally be zooming around West Yorkshire to all the reclusive places we love to drool over. We've also struggled with horrendous weather since June which has restricted our ability to explore and visit festivals and unfortunately this week of our anniversary has been no different.

So following the tradition of anniversary gifts to commemorate your wedding, my first gift to my husband was his favourite story "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", followed by his second year gift of Scottish cotton handkerchiefs, however being our third year I was slightly more uneasy with the concept of our leather anniversary; which represents protection and touch. As I don't agree with how leather is obtained, I did some research to ensure the leather I used was ethical and no animals suffered to obtain it. I'm also a big supporter of small business, and as Si has been so heavily involved in multiple RPG's (Role Playing Games) and his dice kept rolling around; that a gift specific to his hobby, rather than something as typical as a wallet would be more personal to him and us as a couple. So I found "The Crown Leather" who was able to create a custom leather multipurpose holder that he could use to prevent his dice from flying all over the place. I was so excited when it arrived and the workmanship was impeccable.

Her communication was very fast and the shipment was quick too. With up and coming tests, it's been a very expensive year, which has meant that we've had to postpone trips I'd had my heart set on, in order to be adults; and boy was it hard.

Sometimes not spending a lot of money just to show our love is better than going away on fancy days; however I thoroughly plan on doing this in future, is a nice change of pact. Once we're all car ready, our ability to go places for our anniversaries really opens up doors; and it's about time we finally stopped relying on an ever increasingly terrible public transport (curse you London), so our plan of action was to have a lie in, make our way to have a delicious breakfast from Frankie & Benny's and enjoy a double feature. Now we've had to give up alcohol for personal reasons; so at least if we have to drive this shouldn't be too much of a problem or having to pass any breath tests by our local coppers, it meant some soft beverages whilst revelling in a horror fest of Annabelle (yes we'll continue to watch the series no matter how bad it gets), followed by the Classic’s Jaws and The Matrix.

It was an amazing experience getting to watch two fantastic films on the big screen; one way before I was born and the other age restricted whilst I was growing up. Despite being in the 70’s, the story itself put something like Anabelle to shame as even 40 or so years later the film still makes me freak out at certain points; despite having watched it repeatedly. Then of course we got to the Matrix. Seeing a young Keanu, really takes you back, and watching where the slow motion stylised action is absolutely thrill inducing and gives you so much more of an appreciation for it. Each film has it’s own merit and made for a spectacular experience, one which we both share a passion for and loved every second of.

Despite having plans to visit the seaside for the weekend, the weather just simply didn't allow for this, along with trying to watch the pennies so we can splash the pounds later this year; I still loved every minute I got to spend with Marauder. He brings such life and joy to my world and whilst we have our disagreements one hundred percent has my back Jack. With all the hopeful plans for the next 12 months, a quiet and not quite planned day may have happened, but every minute not spent together is one minute too long.

Sorry that this post isn't as fun as the last one, but it's still so special to me.

Much love and ciao for now
