This is Halloween, everybody make a scene.

Hello and welcome back to my blog! So after the drama that was my sisters wedding, our next key milestone of 2020 was infact Halloween. I'm pretty sad because I really would have loved to have had a proper party, so that V could look back on this time with fond thoughts when he's older. But instead we kept it low key, and sadly not according to plan!
With the lockdown in full effect and rain pouring down our planned trip to York to collect pumpkins was a bit of a "washout", so plan B kicked into action, we went shopping for some costumes and some decorations to add to our original stash. Fitzy loved the idea of the clown outfit, and we ordered him some gloves off Amazon (yes I know I'm a hypocrite for telling people to boycott them), but we were under a tight deadline and no supermarket was stocking any; although we did find a cute red nose from Asda...so win right there!

After collecting our costume pieces we were missing, we picked up a few snacks and made our way home with a very fussy bear... Once back we started to play with the pains we'd picked up from Asda, the facepaint was a bit difficult to work with, but together we made use of the sponges and incorporated some of my makeup as well to enhance lines on the face. I found a cheap wig from asda as well as a pumpkin carving kit, although I can't say we got a chance to open it; as there were zero pumpkins in any stores in the area which made me doubly sad.
Decoration wise we had picked up some gravestones from B&M which didn't last a minute in the Yorkshire wind, we picked up some halloween string lights from Sainsbury's, hung up previous skeletons from our original stash and of course our resident Grim came out to play in the window in case we did get any tricksters to our door. We strategically placed faux glitter pumpkins around the house and Fitzy created a little alter next to the tv that we could use for some light.

Fitzy started with his costume and make-up, although when he went to go try on his outfit, it turned out he was missing the bottoms! so poor me had to stop pumping milk and run back to the store and exchange his outfit for one that was complete. Once back he finished his outfit and we used my eyeliner to tighten up the look. I much preferred him without the mask...mainly because he was less creepy; and his plan to go annoy the kids in the area fell through thanks to the horrific fog and rain.
Finally my turn to go get ready - I'd picked up a black dress from Boohoo back in the middle of my pregnancy and was the closest thing I could find for my costume keeping close to the dia das meurtas which my culture celebrates normally on 1 November. Once painted up I completely forgot my flower crown, but made my way down to the boys who were playfighting. Fitzy loved the makeup and we took some pics altogether, before sitting down to watch our horror film binge. One film of the night I'd recommend 1000% is His House on Netflix. one of the best films I've watched in a long time. I'll probably land up posting a review on it in the upcoming months between working and looking after V.
Below is a slideshow of more captures from the night :)
So all in all a very quiet lockdown night, I hope desperately that in 2021 we will be able to have people over or attend a party, because for me 3 is not enough.
That's it for this week, I hope you're all keeping safe.
As always.....
Ciao for now!
